MUHAMMAD ALI… GONE AND I DOUBT THAT ‘THE GREATEST’S’ FLAME WILL EVER BE FORGOTTEN… OR GO OUT… and ORLANDO GAY CLUB KILLINGS…
Well, even his illness Muhammad Ali managed to avoid having passed long ago. For sure
some will say he fought a great fight… and perhaps his greatest was out side the ring fighting Parkinson.
I really do not know many people who have had the staying power of Muhammad Ali when it comes to battling the disease of Parkinson. And I guess 1 can say Ali fought and won because he managed, regardless of all the shaking… to keep his humor and be able to see the world in a light that most of us have no idea of… and the blessings we all have who do not have to battle to live or do for ourselves.
I will never forget when Ali stood before the cameras and said because he did not believe in killing people based upon his religious belief… he, therefore, refused to be drafted and go to war, and fight in the Vietnam war. That action caused many who hated this young black kid, who was so skillful in the boxing ring to get the ammunition to really go after him. But though that action did color his earlier boxing achievements… and ended up with his title being taken from him, Muhammad Ali never let that stop him from being the regal sportsmen he continued to be until the day he died.
Another time I will never forget is when Ali during his time from being not allowed to box by the U. S. government… came to visit our college campus. He was in our Black House… the black student organization building… and he came to talk to us. I cannot remember what Ali talked about… as all I can remember about that day was that there were a number of us black students in the our Black House that day… and Ali took a hundred dollar bill and bought McDonald’s for all of us. This may not sound like much to you but to a whole bunch of mid-afternoon starving college students it was something truly great. We were ecstatic that this great boxer was on our campus and we had a chance to meet him 1 on 1. Could not get home quick enough to tell my daddy… who was a major Muhammad Ali fan.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to witness Ali from the
beginning until his end can truly say that he was indeed ‘the greatest of all times.’ No other box has bought to the prize ring the kind of interest and excitement of an Muhammad Ali fight… which was always colorful and full of rhythms such as, ‘Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.’ Or give us a thrill like the ‘Thriller in Ma’nilla.’
Not many have lived to see the greatest basketball player of all times... Michael Jordan. Or the greatest female sister tennis players of all times… Venus and Serena Williams. Or the greatest base ball players of all times… Hank Aaron. The greatest golfer of all times… Tiger Woods. Or the greatest female vocalist of all times… Whitney Houston… and the greatest entertainer of all times… Michael Jackson. And Muhammad Ali the greatest heavy weight boxer of all times… from the Olympics into the professional boxing ring. And what a gift for trash talking
…until 1 day God shut all that down… but did not take his life until now.
Yes, he was pretty. No boxer prettier… or sharper or more on point than Ali. And an Ali fight was guaranteed to be exciting and filled with the unexpected.
Watching the funeral on the television and seeing all the religious leaders seated on the stage at Ali’s funeral, and being fully aware of Ali’s own religious beliefs… I could not help but think, ‘If you serve anything other than the 1 and only living God, and his son Jesus… than you can belong to as many religion groups as you want, and be the very best person in the world and never make it to heaven.’
It is my hope that Muhammad Ali’s last and fight battle was 1 he also won… and came to professed that Jesus is Lord, and not a lower prophet under Allah.
Odd how that massive and very powerful man was never stopped by any of his opponents, who were also big strong massive heavy weight men with plenty of strength. But having
suffered so many head injuries brought about a disease that ‘the greatest’ wrestled with for a very long time… and now probably never was overcome by it… but by age instead. And he went out of here smiling at the ripe old age of 74…smiling because he defeated Parkinson too… but could not overcome age though many have tried.
One thing is for sure …Foreman… Frazier… and all the rest would never be nothing if there had not been an Ali, who allowed them the privilege to claim into his ring…
Well, God bless… and hope you have a beautiful weekend this weekend. But as I close I cannot help but think about the terrible chain of events that took place in Orlando just this week.
After over a hundred people were shot and more than 50 killed it is insane to me to hear any pastor or supposed religious man laughing and stating from his pulpit that the cold blooded murder who shot and killed those people should have killed everybody who was in that gay club?
I have wonder what Bible are people studying from?
What manner of doctrine are they reading where it says, ‘God hated homosexuals enough to want them all dead.” If that were the case I am more than sure that God even back in Biblical times surely would not have stopped with merely Sodom and Gomorrah… especially since it is widely known as recognized as almost customary for such things as that among men in Greece during that time.
There is no way that this Orlando gay night club shooting should not be classified as a ‘hate crime’ irregardless of the ethnic background of the shooter and his religion… because this crime was perpetrated solely against the gay men in that club for reasons of hate… due to their sexuality … perhaps because he found them to be attractive… and of interest to his sick perverted sexual desires, which to the shooters ethnic group were both against his religion and ethnicity. Whom himself frequent that club trying to date many of those men… and met up with Hispanic gay men over the internet. And there can be denying that this all came about just as we entered into June, which is gay pride month.
Our God has not given unto us the spirit of hate… or hate mongering. But of love. Biblical scripture tells us that we are to love one another as we lover ourselves… this comes without conditions or any special exemptions.
I’m off my band wagon for now. But I pray that God sincerely touch every heart and change ever deprived mind that seeks to do evil.

We were in Coney Island when we came upon it… a gated community. We were kind of in awe of it… because it was kind of off by itself. We did not recognize immediately what it was that we were looking at… as it is just not the kind of thing you see in New York City. And certainly not out in Coney Island ever… least ways I had not.
But by this time Coney Island had been converted into, I guess you could say, some type of urban oasis. Gone were all the tall brick story housing complexes that used to line the skies in this section of Brooklyn, known to the world as Coney Island. The place looked totally different and it was hard to believe what had once been. I didn’t see the boardwalk or the amusement rides… none of it. It was as if somebody had taken a pencil and erased it… all.
Then that is when Mother and I spotted it, a group of houses surround by a brick wall. Up until this point… some time ago I had heard about gated communities but had never seen 1… or thought about it when I had seen them. Because who thinks of these kind of things… gated communities? I see such structures as just being more or less just a group of apartments or houses… or housing complexes… or new housing developments. But this place was fenced in with wires going all around… almost like a prison. The houses looked like that they had been shoved in and bunched up on top of each other… and that is what caught our attention.
The houses did not look like anything spectacular to me. None of them had any real land around them. Just a group of regular New York style non-distinct houses, of various kinds. Nothing big or fancy. Nothing that looked rizie… just plain common ordinary houses. Nothing to brag about. But they were fenced in by this brick wall that went all the way around it.
I remember saying to Mother, “Look Mother, a gated community.”
I was surprised to see it… and especially in New York City… and Mother was too. And even more especially in Coney Island… a place where nothing but public housing complexes used to stand, for as far as the eyes could see… but they were now all gone.
I can’t remember having seen 1 public housing complex that day in this section of Coney Island, that I used to visit often once upon a time.
Actually, they are not all certainly gone… at least ways not all of New York’s public housing… otherwise known as projects. But many have now been transformed. The old tenants moved or were forced out by the city of the developers, who had come in to possess this waterfront section of Brooklyn, known as Coney Island. And the buildings that those people all once used to live in have become condos and co-ops, which are very popular in New York City among those who can afford it. Or they were torn down totally. And that was what Mother Rochelle and I were looking at… an area where all the old housing complexes were totally gone.
But while writing my blog, THE ZIMMERMAN CASE WHAT A FARCE, I had heard in 1 of the YouTube videos that I put into that blog… how Zimmerman’s gated community had had a few recent robberies.
In 1 of those videos…. 1 of the homeowners, said to have been 1 of Zimmerman’s neighbor in the gated community… he commented on how a couple of the houses had recently been broken into and robbed. How Zimmerman had stopped robbers from breaking into his house. And he also stated this was the reason for why Zimmerman should have been on his guard for any suspicious characters in their neighborhood… being that Zimmerman was Captain of the neighborhood watch.
Since having heard that I have been thinking… Gated community… neighborhood watch?
Didn’t people move into gated communities for security?
Isn’t that the purpose for gated communities coming about?
Something was not working here. Either the police in Sanford were not doing their job. Or the gate… usually some type of high brick wall… wasn’t working either.
I would love to see the records regarding break-ins in Zimmerman’s neighborhood. And I would love to know exactly how long their neighborhood watch had been in effect?
Were these just a bunch of fearful people?
I mean who else would elect to live in a gated community… except for people who are fearful of the world around them.
The gate in gated communities is meant to keep out certain elements. These elements usually mean… the wrong kind of people… drugs and the woes that the rest of the world has to face simply by living among them.
Was Zimmerman’s complex actually under attack by the outside world?
If outsider’s were coming in… which as stated by the man in that video… some young black men robbing them… who was letting them in?
When I was in Altamonte Springs a small Florida town not far out from Sanford, where Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin… I recall visiting a friend whose parents lived in such a complex. While driving into the complex upon her directions to me… I drove through the front gate and up to her parent’s house. At the time it had not dawn on me that they had lived in a gated community. I saw it only as an up-scale new housing complex.
Evidently, Zimmerman’s housing complex had some problems. Otherwise there would not have been a need for someone like George Zimmerman… operating in the capacity in which they had assigned him… Captain of their neighborhood watch.
Well, God bless… Another beautiful day. I got to get going. Gotta edit some video footage for my television show. In case you didn’t know you can check segments of it on youtube. Just type in my name as it appears on my book cover, THE BISHOP’S WIFE.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the day… and your weekend. Might be good beach weather. A couple of Sunday’s ago that is where we were… aching foot and all. My mother said salt water is good for healing the body. So, we were out on the water front listening to the sound of the waves washing in… and getting our feet wet. Bye… and enjoy.

It is a shame that it took this long for this conversation to sincerely and truthfully come to the forefront of American conscientiousness… but at last it has happened. And 1 might say several senseless massacres too many before something should have really been done… like a long time ago.
After mass killings after mass killings finally the United States government is taking a stand, and President Obama is initiating laws against assault weapons and hand guns…all of which the Republicans for the most part want no part of it.
Well, I understand when your biggest financial campaign contributor is a gun manufacturer, and you have all those gun lobbyist sitting on Capitol Hill. Yes, that might sway your judgment about gun control until it becomes a question of your own son or daughter…getting killed in some movie theater… grade school or upon some college campus etc…
I’m happy that President Obama has said enough is enough, and is taking a lead on doing something that the Congress and the Senate of the United States has refused to have taken seriously for all these years and episode after episode.
But what is so annoying and distasteful to me is how the Republicans hate President Obama…and are so very disrespectful of him. they despise him. And no matter what good President Obama tries to do… they are against him. Whereas, no matter what George Bush did… In fact, it appeared that everything George Bush did was good to them… down to lying about weapons of mass destruction… and sending off people’s sons and daughters to be killed in wars which should not have been. But they… those arrogant Republicans stood by George Bush… all the way. Pushed pass everything Bush wanted without so much as a sniffle. But oh how they cry bloody murder over everything that President Obama does or tries to do. And then they want to say that ‘they are not racist.’
Finally got a chance to read the above entire article LINK. Those republicans are a real joke. They can’t even bring themselves to call Obama ”Mister President” or ‘President Obama.’. It seems that uttering those words when referring to the President would seriously hurt them.
What kind of fool do they think President Obama is?
Trying to scare Obama by saying they will consider impeaching him for legally using Presidential authority granted unto him, as President of the United States. I don’t think anything dumber has EVER been said. What a bunch of fools.
Arrogance… ignorance and hatred will make a fool of you all the time… and that is the state that the American Republican party is in. They are arrogant… ignorant fools. And they show that by making the stupid statements such as those expressed in the above news LINK.
I am so happy Obama is not a chump. He doesn’t back down.. and he knows exactly who he is and they can’t stand that.
He’s the President…and they are only members of the House… He’s ”head houcho”…and that really bugs ’em…. And even worst of all Obama acts like it…and THAT is killing them.
It is far beyond the time for the Federal Government to step up into the role of ensuring the safety of the American Public by enacting laws that will lower the availability of guns to the criminally minded, and those who have some insane agendas. These incidences have become too frequent and they are escalating. I am just story that it took a bunch of very young school children to signify this point.
I just happened to catch a segment on The View regarding gun control and various methods that can be put into place at schools. It was 1 of those rare times that I must admit to being totally in agreement with Elisabeth Hasselbeck… who is almost always a voice of dissension on that show… and a devote Republican.
Whoopie, Sharri and Barbara were all for guns being given to school teachers as a good method of curving school killings. Which is something I find to be totally ludicrous.
Of, course some do. And then the other side of that scenario is this…
What happens when a student gets a hold of 1 of his or her teacher’s guns?
Because arming teachers and/or other school faculty staff is a very very bad idea… so many walking and carrying guns in school this could very well become a worst problem… and dilemma would arise at knowing who to shoot at. In the heat of a shoot out… like out on the battlefield this is not necessary 1 of the easiest things to decipher… Hence, ‘friendly fire.’
But fear and a haste to make all the wrong choices by putting into place measures that could bring about even worst consequences, than the problems we now face itself are worthy of some deep thought. And it is not Obama’s plans that I fear… but all these so-called do-gooders who may have some very flawed thinking triggered by lots of fear… or hidden agendas… all coming… running with their irrational suggestions.
It would have been a disaster if suddenly a shoot out between a passenger and airline personnel broke out in an aircraft… leaving all the passengers in grave danger not to mention the aircraft itself. And so would be arming teachers or other supposed teaching professionals with guns be too. The last time I checked that shooting at Sandy Nook school, in Connecticut where 26 people were killed… and most of theml children under the age of 10… it was the mother (the school teacher of that classroom)… who had owned those guns which were used…by her crazed son.
The article reads that the woman…the female victim was the true hero here…
I am, however, sure that his parent’s might have seen this picture entirely different… and particularly since the crazed man, who had kidnapped the young woman, torched their home in an effort to get the young female victim back.
The young 14-year-old in this story definitely deserves to be praised. But I know his parents must have an entirely different take on this story. But he saved that young woman’s life…while at the same time putting at risk his own, and that of his younger sister and brother. And not to mention their family home.
But it was an unselfish act. And a lot of times people can’t understand unselfish acts…because they only see the dangers in them.
But this boy will probably be blessed for the rest of his life…because he did what God calls all of us to do. To love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The text actually specks of laying down your life for your brother. Something that I know would run across no parent’s mind at the time when they hear how their home and family was put into jeopardy by the actions of 1 their older child.
And going back to The View… on that same show they were also discussing Governor Chris Christie and his weight. Truthfully speaking I felt a bit offended. They made it sound like ALL overweight people are unhealthy… which is definitely not the case. And they also made it sound like only overweight people have health problems… and we all know that is definitely not true.
But what struck me as being somewhat bias was Whoopie’s response to the whole conversation. She who for many years… if not still… has been known to be a very heavy smoker. Even while listening to Whoopie speak you can hear the effect of those years of smoking upon her voice. Yet she failed to mention that her own addiction… the 1 to cigarettes is even far more unhealthy and harmful…if not just as much so… as she talked about all of Christie’s weight wearing on his heart… and would hinder his ability to do the job of a President effectively.
According to the consensus cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, accounting for close to 17 percent of total healthcare spending. Cardiovascular issues include: hypertension, coronary artery disease, acute myocardial infarction, per-cutaneous coronary intervention, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure.
Cigarette smoking is a major contributor to the
three most prevalent causes of death in African Americans… heart disease, cancer, and stroke. All people, regardless of race and ethnicity, can become addicted to tobacco and can be damaged by the harmful effects of smoking.
So, what I am saying is this… Governor Christie should not be singled out and declared unfit… or otherwise unhealthy simply because of his weight. It brings about an astigmatism that is many times placed upon all heavy-set people unjustly. Causing many of them to not get health benefits… jobs… and oftentimes ostracized. Which certainly is not fair and treads upon their civil rights.
It is very likely that if Christie chooses to run again as Governor of New Jersey… tries to leap out into Presidential waters his weight is going to be continuously made a factor. And that really should not be.
I recall that this guy wrote this book called ‘THE JOY OF JOGGING.’ He was an avid jogger. By every regard he was considered in good health… and his body trim and fit. One day while out jobbing the man dropped dead from a heart attack. I am not trying to poke fun here… but merely saying skinny or fat… tall or short… you are subject to drop dead or have a heart attack. And yes, I would agree that having more weight upon your body does put stress upon your heart, but so doesn’t smoking or some of those other bad habits like excessive drinking or drug abuse… etc…
Now, I do not advocate being overweight. Lord, no… I have had my own issues and battles with it. But I also can see where such a conversation is hurtful, demeaning and liable to bring about discrimination to those seeking job placement… or whatever.
God bless…hope you enjoy your weekend. I think I may get so much needed sleep… and edit some video projects this weekend.
And remember that Monday… this coming Monday is both President Barack Obama’s second inaugural… AND Dr. Martin L. King, Jr.’s birthday celebration. Enjoy them both… and I am hoping to see you in D.C for the festivities. But if not please enjoy it for me too.
And happy belated birthday FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA… can’t close without saying that. I love you.
In fact, I love you both…. And 49 is a great year… A very good year indeed…
And I hope that you are checking for a picture of me in these blogs… Who knows I might even think of doing something real special. Just keep looking out for me… in my blogs.

“Can’t imagine getting up early in the morning and rushing to work…and seeing my children off to school…only to hear my child’s teacher’s son came to school with a gun shooting to death his own mother…and stealing away the life and breath of my baby as well…and 17 other poor little children unfortunate enough to be that boy’s mother classroom.
And he takes his own life without enough courage to face me…
Had that young merely taken his own life first…
This current situation is more than sad….
Christmas for those parents will never be the same…nor their lives…
I pray a peace that surpasses all understanding come to them all right now…in Jesus name…”
No… I think not. It cannot bring back all… or even 1 of those innocent lives which it so ruthlessly took. Twenty-six people… 16 or 18 little children… between the ages of 5 to 10… whose parents will never forget yesterday… when they woke up their child was alive. And less than 3 or 4 hours later they were not.

When somebody espouses a whole lot of trash talking in the ghetto…
Well, they just better be able to back it up or say nothing.
That is how it is in the hood.
Now, I have never lived in the streets or out on the lane …or down on the Blvd. But I do know that when you fool around and talk a lot of junk you better be ready to back it up… or suffer the consequences.
During the pre-term elections recently held this past November… Sara Palin did a whole lot of big talking… before and after. Even as far as pasting up a bunch of cross-hairs upon certain campaign areas that she and her supposed ‘tea party’ crew… or group of flunkies… were aiming to take over.
This past weekend in 1 of those areas … a congresswoman was shot in the head and 6 others were killed in an area that Palin singled out on her cross-hairs map.
That sounds like a whole of lot of big time talk. The which if it had been done in the hood it would have meant all out and out war. Because it would have certainly meant that you were out to get somebody.
And it would have meant that you were gunning for them. And in hood talk… that means to kill ’em.
You don’t go around drawing pictures like that in the hood… and nobody knows what it means?
No, that is a loud and crystal clear message… ask any black folks.
Frankly, such a thing should be as illegal as shouting “FIRE” in crowded place.
I do not think that it is a coincidence that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, a Arizona State Representative, and liberal political was shot in the head some 2 days ago.
Nor do I believe that the shooting was some ramdom act of some dissatisfied Arizonan voter.
No, I think that the picture is a lot bigger than that.
It is a picture of hate mongering and fear embedding that became very popular under the Bush administration. Something that the Republicans have become very famous …or should I say… infamous for doing. Then turning around and crying that they ‘had nothing to do with it.’
But the tactics are theirs. And they pull them out whenever a political race is hot… meaning close… and when they wish to get an upper hand.
So, they set about evoking weak-minded people to do tragic things like shooting an innocent woman in the head, who was working hard to the benefit of the people which she represents.
Sarah Palin is to blame along with those who coach her. And they need to go up on charges of conspiracy. For acting to incite individuals to go out and commit murder or other type of criminal acts against politicians that they are against.
If a person worked in an insane asylum and gathered up the interest of a resident in that asylum provoking that person to hate someone enough to hurt or even kill them. And the insane asylum person upon his release goes in search of the person they had been provoked against… and somehow hurts or otherwise kills the person… who would be to blame?
Clearly, the person who provoked the insane person to do so.
And the law would seek that person out.
So, why should Sara Palin and her people be any different?
This world is full of a lot of sick and/or weak-minded individuals who listen and believe a lot of the political rhetoric that they hear… watch or read. A lot of it is devicely twisted to anger people falsely. And in cases such as in the Palin camp… they work to implant seeds of violent acts.
And anyone who does this is looking for a violent outcome.
Why else would anyone put up gun cross-hairs if they were not insinuating that someone should go out and shot somebody that they have set their sights upon?
That is the only reason why someone would do that.
And to do so is illegal.
And is certainly not a joke.
Lets say the shoe was on the other foot… and the congresswoman and launch a website and put up a map with gun cross-hairs on it. And in the center of those cross-hairs was Palin and her family.
What do you think would have been Palin’s out-cry?
Would there have been one?
Yes. You bet… and a loud one. And Palin would have been seeking some type of action. Maybe even legal I have no doubt.
The Republicans love double standards. They can play certain games… but not you.
You can’t… because they are quick to cry ‘foul.’
If a group of cons or crooks…. or drug cartel…. or thugs had mastermind such a thing without a doubt they would have all been rounded up by now and charged.
Is this not the same thing when a drug dealer puts a gun into the hand of little child 12 or 13 -year-old, and tells them to go out and shoot somebody?
They know that the little 12 or 13-year-old is a kid, and not likely to serve a sentence as long as theirs would be, if they went out and perpetrated the crime themselves.
What is the difference between using weak-minded people that do what some of these politicians tell them to do via their commercials and other rhetoric used to poison the minds of such people, in order to have them go out and do their dirty work?
I am for justice and totally against people who would ever try to incinerate anyone against somebody simply because we do not agree politically… or religiously. Or for any reason really.
In the 1980’s when the anti-abortion acted in similar ways… the outcome was abortion clinics being bombed, and abortion doctors were killed.
How crazy was that?
You don’t believe in abortion but you blow up people in an abortion clinic?
Or go out shooting abortion doctors?
What kind of life did they believe in?
Is life not life?
Are we all to agree on every subject?
Just how boring would life be if we all submitted ourselves out of fear to being liked minded because someone was holding a gun over us.
There is a sickness that prevails and is festering, least ways in this country, that makes 1 re-consider George Orwell’s book. And perhaps we need not look at Big Brother as a government system… but as a political party. The Republican Party.
I was so busy prior to stepping into this New Year that I literally barely got any sleep for almost 8 days. A whole lot of legal work to take care of.
So, that is still in the works. Hopefully, we will get a court date and God will give the Judge to be kind.
Then there some other legal matters that I wanted to have out of hair before stepping into 2011… and finally I did manage to do that too.
So, you see I wasn’t just goofing off.
And I had to go out to shovel snow 2 times this past weekend. But thank goodness it was neither heavy or a lot of snow.
So, all is well.
And I am wishing you a great and highly prosperous year.
And thank goodness God is still on throne.
Well, God bless…

Well, she has decided that she is ready to go back to life in the regular lane…forget the fast lane…or the jet lane. No, she doesn’t want that any more. She is tired of all the lights…TV cameras and microphones being thrown into her face….and everybody holding their breath for her every word. She is giving up getting up early on Sunday mornings to go Meet the Press. She has finished shaking the hands of State leader after State leader. No, she is giving it all up to now go to greeting college students.
Yeah, it is back to teaching. And I can only believe she will be looking forward to it.
But after a while will she still enjoy it?
That is the question. It is hard to believe that going back to teaching will be something that will able to hold her for long. After having the life that she has lead for the past 8 years…can you really go back to teaching and ever be satisfied again?
One thing you can really respect about Condoleezza Rice besides her poise, brains and quiet professionalism…is the way she has managed to keep her private life out of the media. Having such a high profile life…it could not have been easy at all. Because I am sure that they have all been looking…to spot Condi and somebody.
But she mastered it…somehow. Because I am sure that she has not spent the last 8 years alone. When you are in the eyes of the world….somebody in going to try to catch your attention. So, I am sure that there have been many suitors vying for her attention. Yet, somehow she managed not to get tangled in one media story after another over her love life and who she was or is dating now.
And on top of it all…no one will ever be able to say…that she did not do her job well.
“Bravo to you, Madam Secretary of State.”
And good luck at Sanford….I am sure your classes are all going to be quite full with long waiting list of students waiting on stand-by to get in.
I really admire another thing about Condoleezza Rice…and this whole new breed of black folk who are in positions of power and prestige. They are no longer afraid or ashamed of their blackness. They love who they are…and celebrate their lives and history as black folk in America. And we do have much to be very proud of…years and years of it…and all kinds of black folk who lit our way.
Besides walking the halls and grounds of Sanford University…I am sure that there are plenty of book deals waiting on Condoleezza Rice. And I am sure that she has many rich stories to relay…without the lost of her dignity or integrity. You can just tell that about her…can’t you?
Everybody should not be allowed to have a gun permit and I don’t care who they are.
Saturday I was in the beauty salon getting my hair done when this peddler came in. He was towing a suitcase loaded with incense, oils and various special soaps. I had seen this guy for many years and never said more to him than ‘hi’….or him to me.
But on this particular day he took a seat beside me and began talking to me as if we went way back as friends. He began to tell me how he and his wife had broken up a couple of years ago and how foolish she had been. To my surprise I had known his wife…and he knew that. I didn’t really know that this guy knew me. But he not only knew me, but one of my brothers and my father.
Needless to say, I was quite surprised by all of this. But what surprised me even more was when he lifted up his jacket and showed me a pistol he was packing on his side.
I don’t like guns…and I don’t trust people who carry them.
After having seen this guy for years standing out on the streets peddling his wares I never once thought he had a gun…or anything close to a weapon on him. I never really ever thought the guy was… Well, was all there…if you know what I mean. There was just something about him. He never smiled…and certainly never seemed to have much of a personality.
The person whom he had been married to… Well, I was surprised when he told me that she had been his wife. I wouldn’t have thought that she would have married someone like this guy. Not that I knew him…but he just didn’t seem to have much going on. And she was nice and smart…and not someone who I thought would have fallen for a guy such as this guy.
But the guy went on talking to me about his gun. How he could pull it apart and how quickly he could put it back together again. How he had taken it apart when he boarded the train to come back to our town…and how he had wrapped it in a special plastic so that it would not be detected.
This guy was dangerous.
Then he started pulling out his gun permits. Yes, I did say gun permits.
All of this this guy did…and he had never in his life every spoken to me before. And he did this while he continued to talk to me about his wife. Needless to say…when he finally got up and I thought about it over a few hours…I have come to the conclusion that that guy was a walking time bomb. And that the clock was ticking…
Because I could hear and see that he was depressed over the divorce of his wife…and he was walking around carrying a very dangerous weapon.
We never know from one moment to the next…who we are standing beside or what they are going through. In the world we live in today with all the problems of people being out of work, laid off, job closing, forclosures, evictions, divorce, separations etc…etc… there are a lot of time bombs walking around.
I really don’t want to come across the guy again…because I recognized that he was unstable as well as being dangerous.
Well, it is beautiful today. Still plenty of snow and ice though. And all I can think about is how nice it is not have to get up for any more 8 o’clock classes…in fact classess at all. I am so happy…I just keep smiling….‘free at last…free at last…thank God, I am free at last.’

Trouble just seems to follow him. For a man who once had everything that, I guess, most people would have liked…somehow it all just got away from him…it slipped through his fingers. It happened one night following a long trail of events which really if you examined them were on the road to doom. And doom it was…it ended in murder.
But this latest farce really amounted to nothing more than a shakedown Mob style. And for having done it…O.J. Simpson is facing the possibility of life in prison.
It really doesn’t seem fair.
Considering the world of memorabilia and the problems of thief, fraud and the like…O.J. going after those guys in a way that they could understand…well, the means clearly does not justify the way…but the memorabilia business is big multi-billion dollar business laced with underhanded and crooked dealings. O.J. was merely seeking to protect and retrieve his own items…in what to him seemed to be the most effective and expedient way of doing so. Perhaps it was also meant to be a message to others, as well…but at the end of the day the trial amounted to nothing more than getting O.J. up on charges with the hopes of finding him guilty to correct mistakes made in 1995. And to me seems wrong.
I will agree that O.J. has lead a life that most of us would not have agreed with. He has been charged with things in which most of us find apprehensible…but dragging throug a trial for the sole purpose of finally being able to say-
“Got cha’ now.”
Is just is not right.
People flash guns and rob people everyday…and frankly many of them really should see some real jail time…but I see judge after judge releasing them…or just giving a few months of probation and these are real criminals. Though some may argue that O.J. Simpson is a real criminal…and perhaps he is…the court saw otherwise. And some may say the same about those whom I mentioned I see time and time again being released by judges everyday in courtrooms for doing the same thing as O.J. just did…flashed a gun and sought to rob someone.
O.J.’s real crime these days seem to be…that since 1995 he has been a real danger to no one more than himself.
Well, hope you have a beautiful day.
SELF PUBLISHING WOES…that Xulon Press…
Started having problems with my publisher again. This time I just plain told them to forget it and give me my money back. Part of the problem with them is that Xulon believes I am just dying to get publish. Perhaps, I was…until I realized I had made a mistake choosing in them to handle the job for me. Now, since 6 or 8 months later and it has been one headache after another with them. I am just too fed up for it to really matter…if they print my book or not.
You can always pay another company to print it for you. But I have never seen a company like Xulon more bent on robbing somebody.
Currently, my project went back into the ‘hold’ mode because I refused to sign off on some things. These things would prohibit me from later going back and filing for damages against them for not providing the services that they promised. If you go back to my first or second blog…it lays out the problems…one of which they submitted to me a cover for my book which had been the cover of one of their privious authors. Secondly, I told them in my contract…where it asked for suggestions regarding the cover…I told no people…and what do you thing I got?
But if the truth be told it is the way that most companies have gone. It is about money…not about what you paid for…not about service…but money Once they get your money they feel they have you…then it is down hill from there. That is when they start to want to make the demands and give the orders. Not on my money…they don’t.
So, I am no longer responding to anything that my publishing company is forwarding to me…as I have demanded my money back. This I already realize…will mean that I will have to sue them. But I rather sue them than let them get away with murdering me.
But you have got to look out for my book, “THE BISHOP’S WIFE”…once I get it published…and it will be published. I know you will enjoy it. It is my second piece of fictional work…about woman in the mid-fifties who can’t put out of her mind a pass love though she marries a Bishop who is not what or who she expected him to be.
The second Presidential Debat is tonight…should be interesting. I’ll meet you in front of the television or over the internet…but we will meet to see how this round of the debates go. I think McCain is going to make it a point to look at Obama once or twice this time. What do you think?

The Suprem Court today agreed that individual Americans have the right to keep, have and to bear arms in a vote of 5 to 4 striking down the D.C .ban on hand guns. A constitutional decision guaranteed to surely come to mean we all loose.
The Washington, D.C. ban was a 32 year old ban which the Supreme Court said was illegal and violated the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution. That amendment was written in during the Constitution Convention of 1787 stating that “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Now living in the 21st Century some questions can be asked about the validity of that amendment today considering today’s violent culture. Where guns are not used primarily to protect but to commit…crimes. Every city and town in this country is faced with serious issues concerning increases in violent crimes of which guns are often times involved in.
For the judges who voted to lift the ban on hand guns in D.C., which has a very high rate of violence…but for those judges the violence in the streets, school yards, businesses and homes in D.C…that violence may not have any affect upon them when they go home to exclusive or gated neighborhoods. But for the everyday people who live, work and go to school in DC there was a reason why such a ban was put into place in the first place.
The issue of guns and violence in this country is a very big issue and a sincere problem in this country…and the out look does not look better…particularly not in light of this recent Supreme Court decision. During the 1700’s perhaps there was a need for the militia, bands of men who carried guns, walking around to protect people, their land and other property and were used as their armies.
But does the same hold true today?
No, it does not. We have Police Departments, paid civil servants who earn their pay filling that capacity. So, there is no need for every citizen to bear arms in order to ensure their or anybody else’s security, safety or rights. Furthermore, additional societal development and organization over time since 1787 has removed the need for it.
In fact, today just the opposite is necessary. We need more effective laws to get all these illegal guns off the streets and criminals locked away…not allowed to go into courts for a hearing then given another date to return back to court where they are then given another date to come back…as they are allowed free to rome the streets and neighborhoods at will. The ineffectiveness of the court system is a joke to most criminals. Which is why they continue to perpetrate more and more crimes.
I am not a big freak on capital punisment. I certainly don’t want to see more and more men or any one in jails and prisons in this country. But I do believe that the laws are for the lawless…and therefore if you perpetrate you need to be regulated and dealt with appropriately.
I most recently myself got arrested. It is a shame to wait until you get up in age and start finding yourself in jail.
At any rate I had gone to court to take care of some family business when suddenly I was ordered to put my hands behind my back. I was shocked. I had no idea what was going on. And suddenly the judge began talking to me about having a warrant for my arrest for not doing jury duty.
I was livid and I could barely gather my thoughts. I ended up spending my whole day in jail over an error. This kind of thing should never happen. Not to mention that I was handcuffed and would have been shackled, but by the grace of God. I am still sieving.
What an embarrassment to be marched through the halls of the courthouse like a common criminal.
How could such an error like that happen?
Because of problems in our legal and court systems errors do happen…and many times those who should be locked up never do…or end up spending very little time for whatever it was that they had done.
However, in no way should we be regulating more laws that aid and assist criminals to be criminals. So they can walk into court after they shoot somebody for no reason…and say, “Well, I had a right to protect myself.”
This is not the wild wild west.
The criminals aready have guns. Most decent people don’t want a gun anywhere around them. So, why should we have to contend with the possibility of getting caught up in the crossfire of some lunatics suffering from road rage or gas pump frustration?
And it is a known fact that if you own a gun…in the heat of a moment you are subject to use it. We have all gotten angry and wanted to kill somebody. And if at the time we could have…we would have. But I thank God now for temperance…but there was a time I didn’t have any.
It is clear that this country is in need of gun controls that work not laxed restrictions which now allow every man, woman and child of…I don’t know what age…in Washington, D.C. to legally start packing a hand gun.
The question is…how long will it take the other states to follow?
Talk about opening up the flood gates.
This month is flying by so fast that I will soon wonder where did my summer go?
Haven’t done much. Need to clean the house but just can’t seem to get into the mood. But I will soon get tired of looking at it and get busy then sit back and marvel at what I did. And think, “wow…”. Then commence to get it right back into the state I just finished taking it from.
Can’t stand the clutter. But I’ve got all summer to think about cleaning it up. Except the bathroom and kitchen…those things I must do. And do regularly…couldn’t stand it any other way. And I always make my bed.
Maybe, I’m not so bad after all. Enjoy your summer and don’t let yourself get bogged down. God bless… ©2008
