THE DNC…the Democratic National Convention…is Mitt Romney’s money clean…SERENA & the U.S. Open… Aretha…

Well, unlike 4 years ago I have yet to say much… if anything about this the 2012 Presidential Campaign. It has not been for the lack of any interest… more like a bit busy these days.

But 1 thing is for sure just as it was 4 years ago… I am still an Obama girl.

As in all campaigns there are some hits and misses… so too here. But when you stack it up side by side of DNC vs. RNC… it was the Democratic National Convention hands down over the Republican convention.

Well, for 1 thing most of the Republican speech givers must have taken a score of creative writing classes… because for the most part most of their speeches were all… for lack of a better word… creative. Very creative indeed.

Nothing like taking on a bit of self-responsibility…or in this case Party responsibility. The Republican Party lacks the desire to do anything but win. It does not matter to them how they win… they just want to win.

It must be sad that the only points you can give to your team are points that you have to make up. Creative 1.

Creative 2… you forget any role in anything.

Creative 3… and you pretend as though ‘we want to help you.’

Yeah, right…

When I think about Mitt Romney it is a marvel to me as to how he has gotten this far?

And THEY called Jim Kerry the ‘flip-flop’ kid. Romney is the master at it. No, I take that back… because it seems to me Mitt does not master anything. He just says 1 thing now… tomorrow he’ll say something that contradicts that… and say he didn’t say that of do that. Or he just allows his money to speak for him or do what needs to be done… and he goes from this to that saying-

“Oh, well…”

And a lot of times when he gets caught at something and doesn’t know what to say… he just looks plain lost.

Either Mitt Romney suffers from the same thing as Clint Eastwood… or the last ship just pulled out of Pennsylvania Avenue. Which happens to be a major street way… as in roadway… not a water way. But to those suffering from some bout of disillusion… as a Mitt Romney or an aged Clint Eastwood it may seem like a major water way. Because the Republican Party for sure is up a creek without a paddle… with a man who seems to have nothing else going for himself except ‘money.’

I think that it is sad when you are asked to go to a convention and cheer for a man you don’t even like.

I must admit though that the Republicans who decided to throw in their hats into the ring as contenders to become the nominee for the Presidency on the Republican ticket were… Well, they were slim pickings. There is no other way to have put it. And out of that bunch of slim pickings came Mitt Romney, who gave an acceptance speech as their choice for candidate to run against President Obama… not because Mitt came with a whole lot of credentials… but rather money.

In fact, Mitt Romney has no real credentials that would make him eligible for any job. His stint as Governor of Massachusetts was a joke. The man was hardly there… and when you boil it all down… Mitt Romney did absolutely nothing for Massachusetts. Mitt Romney did zero… a big fat NOTHING.

I love when people pick up and move to some place just to run for political office. Hillary did hit when she and Bill departed the White House, moving to New York. Jeb Bush did it when he up-rooted himself and family from Texas to go south to Florida… where they by the way fixed the 2000 Presidential Election so his brother could win the Presidency. But Mitt left whatever state he came from to move north to Massachusetts.

Massachusetts is known for a great jumping off point for potential wanna-be Presidents. I cannot begin to tell you how many Presidential candidates have run from the state of Massachusetts… including Kennedy and Adams who both won. Dukakis ran… that guy with the red hair ran… Ryan I think his name was. And I don’t know how many others.

So, along came Mitt with his Presidential dreams… seeking to springboard himself into the number 1 seat in the White House from a state known to be a good launching pad… Massachusetts. Mitt did not move there… or rather set up a residence there by mistake.

But he did NOTHING.

Now, we are into 2012 and Mitt is running for that mantle for his fireplace up in the Alps. He likes titles… he wants people to call him ‘Mister President’ ‘Commander’… but he has not a plan… and we won’t take about ‘a clue.’ Which Mitt doesn’t have either. He just has money… and lots of it.

Herein lays Mitt’s dilemma… 1. Why should any American citizen want to even consider a man… much less vote for him… who has money locked away in a place-

Excuse me… I meant locked away in ‘not in a place’… but in an entirely different country other than his own… and paying no taxes on it?

2. Why does Mitt not want to divulge how much money he has?

3. Could Mitt’s money be bad?

Well, the only people I know… I mean whom I have heard about who do that with money who are criminals… big time drug dealers, thieves and robbers etc…

So, I’m wondering which 1 …or if Mitt Romney is them all?

Because if the money is clean… legit… then I can’t understand the problem Mitt is having releasing financial his information?

I mean we all know that there are rich people in this world… and some a lot richer than others. But they do not appear to be evading the issue of their net worth. So, why is Mitt?

You know when you live in the hood and hear all of those stories about how ‘the real’ drug dealers are not the ones walking the streets day and night trying to sell the stuff. That is really the truth. It is those big time Wall Street type… the type that have big jobs, lots of money and live in penthouses… who can afford the secret air strips and pilots it take to fly that stuff in. But the drugs never actually touch their hands …they just finance it.

They own the planes that fly the drugs in, the places where the drugs are cut or cooked, packaged and then disbursed. They reap all the real benefits of the drug trade… (if you want to call it that) but none of its negative publicity, images, hardships or dangers. The money goes to them… the real money… and they sit on top of the whole sha-bang looking as clean as a whistle.

So, Mitt where did you get all your money from?

I am more curious than ever… because try so hard to hide something there is usually a very good reason. And when you are dealing with a guy who seems to have an endless supply of money… such as a Mitt Romney… I think somebody should be asking him some intense questions about his finances.

Out of 6 or 8 other Republicans who ran along with Mitt to become President… Mitt just simply out spent them all. He had more money to spend than any of them. Which is the only reason Mitt Romney happened to get this far. And it has been his money that has kept him for his entire political life.

The Olympics take money… you can’t be a promoter of something like that without some really big capital to even consider financing it. Running in all the political campaigns for as many years as Mitt has …it had to cost him some major capital.

Good investments are 1 thing… but lots of people have made good investments and evidently do have what Mitt has by way collateral.

Mitt just how did you get all your money?

Rick Santorum vowed that he was staying in the race… that Romney’s money was not going to force him out of the race. But in the end even poor Rich just could not stand the test of time. He simply did not have that Mitt had… by way of money.

So, 1 by 1 all the other GOP would-be nominees bailed out. Mitt Romney it can easily be said won by default. And it happen because of a money deficit on the other’s sides. They just could not hang with Mitt and all the money he was spending.

Now, it’s Obama and Mitt. And I will say it… hands down its going to be Obama.

A Paul Ryan/Mitt Romney ticket cannot compare to an Obama/Obama/Biden ticket in anybody’s book.

Though I realized upon hearing about that HBO had a show about a Mormon family… from the moment I heard about it I knew what that program’s purpose was all about. It was designed to show America that Mormon families are just like everybody else. But they are not. And a show created to sugar coat real Mormon life …and designed to desensitize Americans to the real ways, religion and practices of Mormons was all done to make way for a Mitt Romney win into the White House.

That show was as much a ploy… and I should political ploy whose purpose was as much a form of propaganda movies during the Cold War. It came about to get people to feeling and saying-

“Oh, they are just like us.”

And if anyone looked real deep… they might even find out that it may have been financed either part or in whole by somebody tied to Mitt Romney or by Romney himself.

Inside the Mormon world …their close-knit families… their families are not just like ours. Their families look nothing like ours. They live by entirely different set of rules… and they believe differently.

Their worship is not the same… because their root beliefs are different. And their concept of family is different.

It is funny that when you google ‘what do Mormons believe’… it is interesting that there is no clear answer. But a variety of varied responses… like they believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. And so does the devil.

Okay, then maybe you should ask what do they practice religiously?

Multiple wives… women who live their lives in total submissiveness… with no power and no voice for 1, 2 and 3.

I am thankful that my God gave me the freedom to be more than a baby factory…not to be just somebody who turned out child after child. Because that is pretty much the lives of Mormon women. It is a man’s world as James Brown used to sing in his song by the same title. The men within their group love that… so much so that age means nothing to them in consider to their pleasure and choice of wives.

So, I really do not understand any man who is supposedly running for the top political position in this country ….who does his banking in foreign banks… in order to hide his money. And I do not understand any man or woman who would want to lift up a man to rule in this country …who belongs to an organization that is very much a cult… and where the spirit and minds of women is stripped from them.

Came across a quick note about Patti LaBelle… and I was surprised to read it. I never thought she cussed or became so enraged that she would totally loose it. Never really seemed to be the type. And I must say that I have met her… and I found her to be quite nice.

It all happened in a confrontation with a woman… who I believe may have been pregnant… if I remember the story right. But was outside of a building that Patti was either entering or exiting and something or other happened that caused Patti to show a side of herself that I never would have never thought in her.

The confrontation cost Patti $100,000 in an outside of court settlement. Can’t imagined what happened that would have been worth that kind of payout… but Patti must have gone berserk… when she threw water on the woman and a few choice words.

Perhaps Patti reflected on it and felt so real bad about her poor behavior… and the possible shame of having this type of case go to court where people just like me… would have never thought Patti could have done such a thing… stare at her with their mouths wide open in disbelief.

But sometimes it is just a matter of it being a bad day… a very bad day. I do not know if you have ever had 1… but I have. The incident occurred while I was teaching in high school. My son had done something which had really upset me… and here came this student that had been acting stupidly in my class. Earlier in the day the actions of this boy I had let go by… I was being professional and I had not yet spoken to my son. But by noon I heard of something about my son that had worked me up… and here came this boy… and he either said something to me or did 1 last thing… and I said to him-

“I’m so mad I could leap up in the sky and kick you right in the face.”

It is when I realized that I was not cut out to be teacher material. So, when the school department tried to offer me another contract to teach the following year I said no. Besides I wanted to work on shooting my film and that had not become my focus… and goal.

Now, it wasn’t that I couldn’t handle it… teaching… or that I did not have control of my classes. No, nothing like that.

In fact, quite the opposite… because in my classes I ruled. And I was not very tolerant of anyone who did not come into my class to work.

Students respected me and I respected them. But on that day… that boy crossed me at the wrong moment… and all my professionalism left me. When I went into class the next day…. I will tell you this… I was afraid his parents were going to be there waiting on me. I would have if my child had come home and told me a teacher had said such a thing to them. But evidently that boy never told it to his parents.

So, what I am saying here is that there are times when any 1 of us can lose it. But the difference is our names are not Patti LaBelle. And that does make a difference. But does not any less make such times less embarrassing… or just as shameful.

Talking about shameful. Happen to come across this picture of Patti and wondered if she is going through mid-life crisis?

I do not believe this looks decent even when the kids dress like this. So, you know seeing this photo was a thumb down from me.

It Patti is not going through some type of mid-life crisis… between this dress and her law suit actions …I do not know what is going on? I cannot figure another reason for Patti flashing as much flesh as this. Personally, I like the classy Patti better. I really think it is ridiculous when the young girls do this… and cannot understand any woman… older woman wanting to follow what the kids do.

When I heard Jesse Jackson answering a question about his son recuperating in an interview recently… I thought that it was that his son had had a stroke or something. The way that Jesse spoke about it and how he was smiling I would have never known anything otherwise.

I would never have thought that the Senator or Congressman… whatever he is… Jesse Jackson, Jr was in rehab due to a problem with drugs. He always seemed to be so on top of it… sharp …clear and on point about what he was doing… saying and about his service to the people he was voted to represent.

Hard to believe. But we pray that it all comes back together for him. And if it was just an illusion… that he gets it together for real.

Well, Serena is tearing up the tennis courts in New York at the U.S. Open. It is win…win ….win. And that she is … and she appears to be more determined to continue to do so.

Serena is going after her opponents with more power… and her mental game is so strong that the other female tennis players might as well not even walk onto the courts to face her.

Serena is slaughtering them. One behind the other Serena is shutting everybody down… and proving in such a big way… and without a doubt she is #1. Whether they say so or not.

Serena Williams is #1 in the world. The #1 female athlete. Highest grossing woman in sports …and the least celebrated. But she is slamming it home… ‘I’M #1!’ Respect me… fear me… and and try to beat me if you dare. And she is menacing threat because she is relentless… and packs as much physical strength as she does mental power.

And I noticed that ain’t nobody said nothing about Serena’s hair. Oh, I forgot she’s from Compton.

UPDATE: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2012…Well, she is taking it home. Serena won it all once again… not only the top women’s trophy …but the big check that went along with it. She was a little more challenged in her final game, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, but rose to meet the challenge.

I guess you could say-

“Another one bites the dust.”

Just 1 more thing before I close out. Lady ‘Re became Dr. ‘Re this past week receiving an honorary doctorate from Princeton. Good for her…I know she was overwhelmed.

Proud of this diva…for 1 thing because she never did what a lot of other artist have done or are trying to do. She has never forsaken her base of fans trying to seek after something else. Because ‘Retha already knew she had what she had… and if that wasn’t good enough too bad. (I’m smiling because I know how Aretha thinks) That’s what makes her the Queen…and she is second to none.

Kim Burrell secular music star…wanna be

I have been thinking about Kim Burrell since my son made mention to me about her crossing-over into secular music. From gospel artist to jazz diva…or R&B mama…I don’t know… But I find it hard to wrap my mind around it.

Why would anyone want to give up on the Lord and go search out something else?

To me all I can think is that she sold her soul for a contract and a hope for a few more dollars.

When you sit down…when you think about it…her rep and CD sales were not shabby gospelwise. So, then why the cross-over?

Why did Kim decide that she wanted to forsake gospel music for something more inclined to not be accepted by the gospel community…something like going ‘secular?’

Maybe she feels that if Sam Cooke could do it…and do it… I guess by some reports…that he did so successfully… then maybe she could… or can do it too. But Sam died young. I think he ended up being shot to death.

And that is why I would never turn my back on the Lord. The Bible tells us that it is better to have never known Him…than to turn away from him.

If Whitney Houston knows better…and I feel she does…how then can Kim Burrell who professed to be saved…then how can she be so backward in her thinking?

And Whitney does know better. Whitney has always added bits and pieces of gospel to her repertoire. And just the other day…I heard Patti singing a duo with the Queen of Gospel Music… Shirley Caesar…and they really were singing that song. So much so that I had to get up and write down the name of the song so I could look for it and buy it.

Gospel music is definitely where the money is. The only people who are making money in secular music right now and for some time now have been and are rappers. So, then…what does Kim Burrell hope to obtain by crossing-over?

Then the other thing most recently Kim was given a very big promotion in the ranks of the International Church of God in Christ. She became the second in command over the cogic international music department…a dream job that many would literally die for. And here it is…she is going secular?

I know it must mean that she is forsaking this post that had most recently been bestowed upon her. But if this has been on her mind…then why did she take on the job in the first place?

I say for the prestiege that went with it. She had just gotten the position only a few months ago. She had to have been thinking about getting her gastric operation…and sexing herself up…way before that. After all, that operation is not just something you just jump up and decide to do overnight.

She can’t possibly be planning on keeping the post…and be a secular artist…say another Beyonce…too?

Can she?

Though I do honestly believe that some people get involve with a very large organization…such as the Church of God in Christ…just for the sake of launching their careers. Practically everybody in the music industry… singer-wise and musicans…have at some time been in a choir or played in the church band…and many of them in cogic churches. You often hear them being interviewed on some show talking about their cogic experiences under Dr. Mattie Moss Clark…the Clark Sister’s mother. And many stars, Grammy and Stellar winners have come out of the Church of God in Church…such as… the Clark Sisters just to name one (who since being babies had been involved with the cogic music department). That list also includes the God Father of Gospel Music, the late and very great Rev. Timothy Wright…not to mention Myrna Summers, Rance Allen, Vanessa Bell Armstrong and the list goes on and on…

Though I have to truthfully say I have wondered how Bishop Blake could have replaced more than 400 years of collective experience in the international music department between Iris Stevenson, Bettye Nelson and the Clark Sisters alone not to mention several others in the cogic international music department… with people who had never even worked in that department before…in its highest positions?

I am a believer in that old saying…if it is not broken don’t fix it. Considering how the cogic international choir has lead the way and set the standards that many other choirs and group follow… So, why would have Bishop Blake wanted to mess with that?

It just didn’t make sense. Now, one of people whom he put over that department decides to go secular?

Though I must say that I have never been big on Kim Burrell. For one thing I just do not understand why people taunted her…like she was some big singing phenomenon. Like she was an Aretha Franklin or somebody. And like she had been around for years…I just could not understand it.

Maybe it all has to do with the time that Kim came to our church to perform. It was one of the worst and most un-professional shows or performances I had ever seen any known talent perform. And it cost our church $5,000…with a demand for a limousine and a 5 star hotel to boot.

And that $5,000 cost came with no band…but with Kim shouting during the Kim Burrell 2010 BET Honors performance to the audio guy way in the back of the church what tracks to play as she performed one song after another.

Once somebody told me something. They were talking about a young rapper…and she said-

“Where did he come from? It seems to me that he just sprang up on the scene and look at how large he is. I believe he must have sold his soul to the devil.”

I thought that statement was interesting coming from her…because in all the time we had sat together editing video tape footage I would have never have thought she thought about such things. Nor did I believe her to be religious. But it was true…the rapper she was talking about did spring up overnight and did seem to become instantly successful. That rapper which she was talking about was 50¢. And he kept on getting hotter…hotter…and hotter.

I would never want to walk away from following the Lord. I can’t imagine anything that I would rather not do. Besides I am fearful of Him. But even more I love Him. I would love Him to be able to trust me as much as He trusted Job…and feel that I like Job would never let Him down.

No contract…or hope of supposed fame…or riches could make me do what Kim Burrell has decided to do.

And though she said she did the gastric operation for health reasons… Well, anybody could have told her she needed to shed weight. I don’t need anybody to tell me that…much less a doctor. Everytime I look in the mirror…I get the message. And this pass weekend while we were away…the hotel that we stayed in had a mirror on the bathroom door. Well, everytime I sat down on that toilet…I was startled back to reality as I sat looking at myself horrified at what was reflected back.

What a disaster.

I left that hotel vowing to take it off. I mean shed it like crazy. But I am not going lay down on some operating table to do it. No…I am not. I know how to set down the fork…and push away from the table. And that is what I intend to do…and add a little workout to my daily routine.

Baby, it’ll be a brand new me. Eat your heart out Lil’ Kim…I mean Kim Burrell.

If you took the time to read the enclosed letter up top which was to the body of the Church of God in Christ…though it is interesting that it was not sent out to the church at large via the cogic bulk email launcher to all its membership. However, I just received this it from Judith McAllister concerning Kim Burrell…(just CLICK on the letters to enlarge them). It would seem that many within the church of the Church of God in Christ have some concerns concerning Kim Burrell and her current position as Vice President of the International Music Department of the Church of God in Christ. Of which in the reading of the letter it seems that Kim is not willing to relentish her position in the music department…and that fat pay check… though she is currently seeking a wider career in the music industry. Note I did not say the word ‘secular’…as it seems that Kim Burrell is trying to step away from that term now. But as in Kim’s own words…it is what it is…if you want to sing non-gospel music…then you must be becoming a ‘secular’ artist, Kim. You can’t have it 2 ways…you either are…or aren’t.

Though Kim Burrell claims that this endeavor change in her career is due to a deep desire to reach and preach the gospel to those ‘out there’ who do not come in contact with gospel music…is a lot of baloney. The Bible tells us ‘to be ye separated’…and there is a reason for that. You cannot reach anybody by becoming ‘one of them.’ Try doing that with a drug addict or a prostitute…or anything else… and see how much sharing of God you can do with them then.

The only real reason someone choses to make the choice that Kim Burrell has recently made…even in terms of her dress…and to cross-over from gospel music to ‘secular’…has nothing to do with winning souls…but everything to do with that thing called the ‘all mighty dollar’…or a hope for more of it. And it would seem that both Bishop Blake and the current president of the International Music Department of the Church of God in Christ, Judith McAllister…are willing to let her do it…and keep her post…and pay check too.

And then too…anybody who saw Kim Burrell sing at the last Holy Convocation in Memphis…then you could tell that she really didn’t want to be there. Go back and take a look at the footage…and you will definitely see what I mean.

UPDATE: Monday, May 23, 2011… just thought I would share this with you. It is something that I wrote on my facebook page after watching Kim’s latest video called ‘Sweeter.’

Since 1 of my facebook friends happened to mention this video…I just thought that I would take a look. Thought it better not to comment on her post…because I thought she might not like it. This video is a typical example of what happens when you decide to step away from the Lord…and do your own thang. Too much of nothing…and no substance either. Beautiful location…visuals beautiful…but come on, Kim. What is with all the attempts at sex appeal???

It looks like Kim wants to be a sex kitten rather than a singer. And technically… if you spend all that money to go on… location to some isolated island… then don’t go cheap and shoot video… shoot film the next time the end product will look a lot better. And clearly the director knew nothing about correct lighting…because Kim is certainly shot all wrong…and with all the wrong make-up.

I ain’t hatin’ but just sayin’… I would like to see a woman of God be of God in all that she does.

Now, this photo of Bishop Weeks and his new little bride… I do not understand. They are drinking champagne…

WHAT?

She grew up cogic…was pastoring…and we all know that Bishop Weeks had… and probably still does… have issues. But they are toasting one another and drinking champagne.

Maybe they just got tired of pretending to be holy. Since people tend to follow them anyway. Unbelievable.

I’m fighting off a cold. It’s something that happens whenever dust gets into my system. Yes, I have allergies. Most of the time they don’t bother me…but then once in a while a spec of dust is somehow introduced into my system…and the battle begins.

So, since getting from our little trip this weekend…I have had the sniffles. Of course I have started downing the OJ…as in orange juice. And drinking cranberry juice…and taking my iron tablets.

But it is all good. I will not complain. I am blessed and this too shall soon pass…and then maybe sometime this week I will really get some sleep.

Lots of editing…and shooting footage…and working on my websites…and launching a couple of access programs…and launching my 2 other business enterprises. I am so excited. Not to mention my book, THE BISHOP’S WIFE, will definitely soon be out. And when it does…it means I begin to hit the road to sell it.

So, you see…yes I will be very busy as the year continues. I hope this year has lots of good things in store for you too.

Aretha’s diet…losing weight… finding someone

Didn’t she look good?

Heard her talk about being on a diet…and when she showed up at Barack Obama’s inaugural in her grey suit with her Sunday morning go to church hat…she looked fabulous.

She was most recently spotted here on her way from the White House…pushing a shopping cart in Walmart. Signed autographs and took pictures…and people crowded around. I said I wanted to see the pictures…but my son saw them. And he said-

“Ma, it was her.”

I thought it interesting when I saw that Obama’s oldest daughter made sure she got a shot of Aretha with her camera during the inaugural ceremony. Those Obama’s are teaching their children well. She knew Aretha and who it was she was looking at…and she wasn’t going to let Aretha get pass her without grabbing a picture. Smart girl.

I didn’t know that Aretha had signed up with Jenny Craig back in 2007. She might have lost some pounds…but evidently had like most…put them back on and then some. But at the inaugural she really looked great. And I was happy to see that she had shed lots of that extra added bagage…those dirty little pounds.

Her plan was this…

I heard her comment on some show that…she eats what she’s suppose to for 4 or 3 days…then on 3 days eats whatever she wants. I think that is a great plan…because it seems to be working for Lady Re.’

Now, I have just found out what it really is. She has a new somebody in her life. It will make you want to do something… and real quick. Get somebody…and see if you don’t want to make sure he only has eyes for you. Oh, yeah…you’ll start losing real quick.

And don’t have him look good. Because if he looks good…you will want to look good with him. No self-respecting woman would think any differently. And Aretha is the real r-e-s-p-e-c-t woman…didn’t you know?

I just hope that this one is the one she has always been hoping for. After 3 or 4 prior marriages…a bout with the bottle (many many years ago)…one of her mansions burning down…and some local legal worries. I think it is about time…for plenty of happiness in her life.

And I certainly wish you well, Lady Re.’

One thing about Aretha Franklin…no matter what…you can always say that she has been a class act. I remember when I had considered her for a concert gig…the price tag, however, was a bit too much for this little ol’ country girl…$65,000.00 with a quarter of it up front…and I think maybe a precentage. Now, that is business.

But that whole diet thing is mind over matter. If your mind is not there…then save yourself from the bother. It won’t work.

But if you can get your mind there…you have won before you start.

I know some people who did the gastric bypass and a few other things. Though I must say…my friend who did the lap band raved about. And she truly did look good. But she told me that before she did it she went to meetings and read lots of information on it first. And she said she spoke in great detail with the doctor who was going to handle her surgery…and she too told me she was on her way to the altar once again.

I must admit to admiring women…and men who don’t want to just lay around with everybody. And then find out that have nothing.

Marriage is good…and if you are going to be with somebody then let them marry you.

But that gastric bypass…I have a sister who did it. She can’t eat anything without getting sick to her stomach. And the worst part is…though…yes, she lost lots of weight and even though she can’t keep much down…she is still over weight. And it is all due to not having gotten her mind to where it needed to be. Sick or not she eats and then throws up some of everything she eats. I would hate to live like that.

If you really want to lose weight…learn how to put the fork down first. And believe me…you won’t need anything else.

It’s Black History Month…so enjoy…

Wow…the kids do not have anything compared to this.

I hope all of this downloads properly…and doesn’t take too much time. Guess I got a bit carried away.

Enjoy your day…and this weekend. It’s freezing cold outside…but the funny part k014565412 is that the house doesn’t seem quite so cold to me any more. Guess I must be getting used to it. My father would smile. All of my life I have been cold…because I am extremely anemic. I, in fact, am suppose to be taking iron tablets everyday…and I do when I can remember. But I have to really work on that.

Since, so many people have so much more to take by way of medication…and if I desire not to join them… Well, you know… I better take what I have to right now. Because based upon what they say having a low number of red blood cells can be very unhealthy. And I do not want anything to sneak up on me.

Between yesterday and today…it has looked like snow. In fact, there were flurries this morning. Might be too cold…it can’t snow when the weather is too cold. But I guess even in that we are doing okay…because Vee, my friend’s daughter in Chicago…had told me that Chi-town was definitely freezing.

Jennifer Hudson… Obama’s grandmother….

Since speaking with my son last night…who when I called him said-

“Oh, I thought you were calling about Jennifer Hudson.”

I said, “What about Jennifer Hudson?”

“You didn’t hear it over the news? Somebody broke into their house and shot her mother…killing her. And they shot her uncle and then kidnapped her little nephew?”

I said, “What???”

And I turned off the music I was listening to…and thought about it for a while.

I can’t believe it.

Here she is working hard trying to establish herself and find her way around Hollywood…and this. What a tragic event that should happen…simply divastating.

The world is full of evil people…and this you should know if you don’t already do.

At some point after hearing about those murders in Chicago, I started thinking about how parents have always taught their children not to talk to strangers. I don’t know why it came to mind…except some time ago I saw on television where the schools along with parents were aggressively teaching young children not to talk or walk off with any strangers. All of this following a rash of strange cars near schools and a man trying to entice some children to get in. Then there was those laws passed…they carried the names of the young victims of certain crimes.

No one ever said it…but as a young child, I was taught you did not talk to strangers. They did this because they knew that the world is full of evil people and they wanted to protect us from them. But in the recent years we have seen the level of evil escalate.

Oh, yes we are accustom to hearing stories of people breaking in and killing people…but we had never heard of the type of events that caused 9/11. There was even a point where we had never heard of people who put razors in apples and then gave them out to children during ‘Trick or Treat’…or tainted candy. But the world is full of evil people…and their numbers are multiplying.

Or it could be argued…we are just hearing more about it now than we did before. Take for instance that father in Austria who had imprisoned his own daughter in his basement for over 20 years and fathered some 7 or so children with her.

How could that be classified as anything else other than sick…and quite evil?

That story sicken me so badly that I have until this very time had not said much on it. But it was evil.

When I think of what I read on the once very popular DeBarge family…sicken me in the same way. In that case it was a father destroying the lives of his many sons and daughter. That story too…turned my stomach.

Life is hard in many ways…but these type of undue interruptions that cause even greater hardship of emotional conflict and personal hate…can have and leave indelible marks and effects upon the lives of many who have had to endure the traumas of them.

I have a friend who was born in Chicago…during some time very early in her life she was gang raped by some boys in a vacant apartment across the hall from where she lived with an aunt.

This aunt had been forced into the position of caring for her…as she had come into the world some time during the incarceration of her mother. The whole story is quite sad…but following that rape she was later regularly sexually abused by her aunt’s boyfriend…all this while she was a very young child. The trauma of her history has marked her entire life…and often when I speak with her…she talks of suicide.

There is evil in this world. And Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and 7 year old nephew all came face to face with it.

We can only say…

“Jennifer be encouraged and seek solitude in the word of the Lord…for joy will again come in the morning.”

It is probably hard to believe that right now…but it is quite true.

After hearing the news regarding Jennifer Hudson’s family and then thinking about Obama’s grandmother…I started to cry.

It seems sad to me…after raising him that Obama’s grandmother…a woman he says-

“She poured all of what she had into me.”

It seems sad to think that she might not live to see him become President of the United States of America.

I can only reflect upon the times that once were…while living in the heartland of America an elderly white couple left to raise their daughter’s 2 non-white children. I can imagine the stares they must have received while going to school conferences and while stepping into the dentist’s office or doctor’s offices with her little dark skinned non-white grand children.

It was the times…when white parents were against their children having black friends…much less marrying someone black as brilliantly protrayed in the movie starring Sidney Poitier “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”

It could not have been easy…they were probaly ostrasized and whispered about behind their backs about those 2 little black children that…yes, probably at first they probably didn’t even want…but through time grew to love and cherish as they grew to love and cherish them.

It is sad think that she is sick and might not live to see it. Because there had to have been something in them that made her the way she was…and ultimately in him which has made him who he is today. God bless them all.
